In the last few weeks, floods and landslides triggered by Typhoon Yagi have ravaged Viet Nam, Myanmar, Vietnam, Thailand, and Laos, affecting nearly 6 million children and compromising their access to clean water, education, healthcare, food, and shelter—pushing already marginalized communities deeper into crisis.
In the same period, tornadoes, hurricanes, and unprecedented rain storms have wreaked havoc across the United States. This was a One-Two punch for most residents of the American South, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina. They had barely started the recovery process from Hurricane Helene when Hurricane Milton made landfall.
Many families are devastated, wiped out. Recovery may be an illusion for many as they have nothing with which to begin a new life. The scenes are hard to imagine. Added to the disaster is a bad attitude, first on the part of Ron Desantis of Florida who refused to take calls from Kamala Harris, and then, from Trump and Vance spreading disinformation with a purpose to discrediting the Federal government’s response, but actually harming people in need.
If anyone thinks politics is dirty in their own country, they should take a look at the state of American politics with Trump now, and the hold he has on the Republicans. Add to that, the amount of stench that would be left behind long after he’s gone.
What’s interesting about his politics of fear is that not only is he the purveyor of fear, he is fear itself. He represents a certain level of politics that would make Alabama of the 60s under George Wallace look like a children’s playground.
What people like these do not understand is that Physics does not lie when it says action and reaction are equal and opposite. As you breed extremism on the Right, you birth extremism on the Left. The shooter in Pennsylvania was probably one of such people who decided to take matters into his own hands, but who will dare to tell Trump that he is the reason why the assassins came after him in the first place?
I wonder what anyone has to gain from killing Trump.
A man like that is usually preserved long enough by nature to see what lasting damage they have done to society by their self seeking rhetoric.
George Wallace of Alabama, the governor who was famous for the infamy: “Segregation today, segregation tomorrow, segregation forever,” may have won elections with that kind of rhetoric, but at what cost?
His actions, even though they happened 60 years ago, still haunt Alabama.
How many people know enough people who say, “I love Alabama?”
How many businesses are there that want a good place to invest in America, and decide to choose Alabama?
That’s the George Wallace legacy. Just as his legacy has lingered, thus harming Alabama’s long term prospects, so will Trump’s and the Republican Party’s to a larger extent as the quality of their candidates become more and more like Trump as we see in Marjorie Taylor Green, J.D. Vance, Ted Cruz, and the House Republican from Florida, Matt Gaetz. These types who want to out-Trump Trump in extreme behavior have taken over the Republican Party. This could be the gain of the Democratic Party, if only they can manage mainstream Republican outrage. I’ve been to Alabama a couple of times. If you stack up all the 50 States in the United States, it will probably be joggling places with Mississippi, Louisiana, West Virginia, New Mexico and Arkansas for the poorest States in America. Alabama does not look like much of the rest of the United States. Nina Simone could not have stated it better in her song “Mississippi goddam.” Listen for yourself on YouTube.
Sadly, George Wallace’s extremism cost him as a would-be assassin put him in a wheelchair for the latter part of his life. He was said to have gone round black communities to beg for forgiveness.
Harris/Waltz Endorsement.
In a further act of crass racist and xenophobic rhetoric, a State Senator from Idaho who was unable to, or unwilling to discuss hard subjects about racism told his opponent, a Native American man to “go back where you came from.” The opponent’s family had lived there for thousands of years long before Christopher Columbus ever set sail. Plus, the name Idaho is a Native American expression which means—gem of the mountains.
This is the kind of rhetoric that has been made possible by Trump’s incursion into American politics. All taboo lines have been crossed and cancelled.
As Election Day fast approaches, polls remain tight.
Candidate Trump or candidate Harris?
Which one should it be?
This is a contestation between the normalization of bad behavior and the expectation of good behavior amongst adults.
This is a contestation between stoking fears about immigrants as robbers, rapists and murderers versus welcoming people who are fleeing oppression and poverty in search of a better life in America.
This is a contestation between demonizing Immigrants as coming to take jobs belonging to Americans versus the truth that these are low paying jobs that are rarely desired by White or Black Americans because they have many other options.
This is a contestation between a candidate who has no compunction about spreading outright lies like immigrants eating dogs and cats versus the truth that these are just normal people who wake up at 4:00am everyday to work in factories doing jobs that no one else wants.
It is the opinion of Egogonewshub that another Trump presidency will represent a normalization of bad behavior, and extreme, hurtful and denigrating rhetoric that will be harmful to the future of the country and stoke more racism.
For all the reasons listed above, Egogonewshub endorses the Harris/Waltz ticket for the presidency of the United States of America.
The Middle East on the Brink.
Over two weeks ago, Iran fired 200 ballistic missiles into Israel. Now, Iranian officials are traveling all over the world looking for friends who will support them in the event of a war which arguably, they have been begging for, for years by their actions in arming Hezbollah in Lebanon, Hizballah in Iraq, Houthis in Yemen, Hamas in Gaza and Al-Ashtar brigades in Bahrain in their righteous self defined “Axis of resistance.”
Some of these groups fire rockets into Israel willy-nilly. It is not a joke. Rockets kill people and disrupts lives. Now, by Iran firing 200 missiles directly into Israel, they have thrown down the gauntlet. What choice does Israel have at this point? Should they wait as sitting ducks for the time when Iran will fire 1,000 rockets at once?
As the United States is reported to be moving some of their most advanced anti-ballistic missiles systems to Israel, the world waits in bathed breath.
It would be safe to predict that Israel will wait until a few days after the American presidential elections to send a reply to Iran. Iran has stirred the hornet’s nest, not once, but twice directly.
The Nigerian Economy.
People are groaning under a huge economic burden as food remains out of the reach of the ordinary man. The economic situation is burdensome. There’s no place to turn to for relief. If the argument that the government gives for not being able to subsidize petrol is smuggling through our porous borders, what excuse do we also have for not being able to give us cheap gas as alternative? Will they also smuggle gas across the border? How?
Tackling the food crisis for example should not be that hard. If only the government would take proactive steps to create cooperative farm systems tied to organized security to grow food across the country, then, we can look forward to broad smiles in at most 6 months. It is doubtful that there’s any such plan in the pipeline. Can States take the initiative?
