You’re running against me—Kamala Harris.

For much of the debate last night, Trump debated against Joe Biden.

He forgot who his real opponent was—-Kamala. I believe his wrong focus framed most of the debate. He let Kamala dominate him by focusing on Biden instead of her.

Many Republican sympathizers, I am sure, were able to see a clear alternative to what Trump has to offer. When he was given an opportunity to be reflective on the debacle of January 6th, he started to talk about Minnesota.

The point that changed the tide of the night was when she nailed him on the felony charges he’s facing especially for someone who accuses foreigners of being criminals. He should never have gone there, but for him, he never sees anything wrong with his own actions.

Kamala’s take-off point was the question about Reproductive Rights. I think she owned that question. Trump had no rebuttal except to repeat the rhetoric that Democrats want to kill children even after they are born.

Essentially, last night, he spoke to his base, whereas he had the opportunity to speak to undecided voters. He shrank his appeal yesterday instead of widening it.

On the matter of Afghanistan, he had an opportunity to press her. It was a missed opportunity for Trump.

When asked about the disastrous pullout from Afghanistan, Kamala pivoted and instead started to talk about Camp David. It was a classic non-answer.

She borrowed a line from him and called him a disgrace. But what especially rattled him for the night was her reference to his crowd sizes. From that point on, he appeared to unravel, and it was downhill from there on.

I think she got across to Independent voters last night with her theme of “Opportunity Economy.”

If I were a young family looking to buying my first home, I would be voting against my interests by not embracing Kamala’s $25k offer of help with a down payment. This will be a fantastic boost for the housing industry. Apart from Agriculture, housing is the next greatest employer of labor as every home that is built helps to create 53 new jobs.

Her tax credit of $50k for small businesses is icing over cake. Again, if I were a small business, why would I not vote for my interests?

Her delivery was even, modulated, and well delivered. Trump showed himself to be unprepared by further repeatedly talking about migrants eating cats and dogs, a rumor that began from Springfield, Ohio.

Nothing could be further from the truth. These migrants come with a dream, their hearts and their souls and their skills to plug into the continuum called the American dream.

Overall, the night was won by Kamala, and lost by Trump. He should embrace the call by the Kamala campaign for a second debate. He might have an opportunity to do a better job.

Who knows?
