After 19 days of newly created friendships, intense competition, days of rejoicing for great wins, and moments of sadness for close losses, the greatest event of our lifetime, the Olympics, has come to an extraordinary conclusion. In the pursuit of Gold, China and America went head to head leaving number three 20 gold medals behind.
Overall, whereas the United States and China had 40 Gold medals each, the USA had more Silver and Bronze in total. At the end of the ceremonies, the flag was handed over to the Mayor of Los Angeles. She was magnificent in red. Tom Cruise, Mr. Mission Impossible, rode away on his famed motorcycle with the flag fluttering in the wind. Karen Bass, Mayor of Los Angeles, will be hosting the world in 2028. Clearly, very few cities and quite a few countries are equipped enough to host the Olympics. One looks forward to a time when Africa will make itself ready. What will it take?
