Yahya Sinwar is a thoroughbred Palestinian. He was born in crisis, has lived in crisis and will probably go down in a blaze — self inflicted, Israeli inflicted or else, who knows?
He may disguise as a woman, sell a dummy to Israel and America, or even do a deal with them, leave quietly, the FBI gives him a new face and he lives out the rest of his life on an Algerian beach.
This is not far-fetched.
Our prayer and our hope is for the suffering in Gaza to come to an end in a comprehensive deal that creates once and for all—a Two State Solution.
Is that a far-fetched dream?
I don’t think so.
If the Good Friday Agreement could work to bring peace to Northern Ireland, peace is also possible in the Middle East.
For this to happen, we need the two big boys, Iran and Saudi to huddle with Israel and talk.
That whole region can be a beacon of peace if the voters start to elect good people where they are allowed to vote.
The Saudi Crown Prince is a maverick. I believe he can be a strong player for peace in the region. History will be kind to him if he rises to the occasion.
