The Military threatens to help quell protests

The Chief of Defense Staff, General Christopher Musa has read the riot act to Nigerians protesting hunger in the land. He said, if things got out of hand, the military would have no choice but to step up to assist the Police.

Meanwhile, BBC reported yesterday that 13 people had been confirmed dead. They were shot by the police. One of the protesters who was interviewed by AIT who traveled from Benin to Ojota, Lagos to protest said, “the hunger in the country is too much. We can no longer eat. Prices are too high. Food is unaffordable.” When asked further what she thought the government should do, Precious Oruche was very clear. She said government should find ways to bring down the price of fuel because it affects everything. She also said the President should come out to address the country. We await the response of the government to the troubling situation of high food prices and cost of energy.
