In 76 years since the State of Israel has been in existence, the world has been laser-focused on the Middle East, and there is no end in sight.
There’s been only darkness.
76 years after, darkness lingers still—in a literal sense. The latest carnage which might lead the world to Armageddon began on October 7th, 2023, the 50th year anniversary of the Yom Kippur War, (1973). The question on everyone’s lips is this: What was Hamas thinking?
I can only hazard a guess.
They needed to do something really horrible to derail the imminence of a Saudi—Israeli Peace Treaty. It would have been a really big deal because the Saudis have always been big funders of the Palestinian struggle. Clearly, corruption is and has always been a concern. The greed of a few politicians becomes the starvation and carnage of 2 million innocent people.
If it is true that Hamas is now ready for a ceasefire, can the world make it one that is comprehensive enough to create a road map towards a 2-State solution?
Otherwise, can anyone see a light at the end of the tunnel?
