Those of us in the business of writing have been screaming from the rooftops for the government to protect farming communities with force. This is a national security issue.
Food insecurity is national insecurity.
Pairing this with duty waivers on massive food importation should resolve the high prices situation in the country in the short term. Kudos to the Federal Government. For the long term, beyond fully executing the budget for the Ministry of Agriculture, the President needs to appoint a Food Czar immediately. This man or woman of integrity must come up with a plan to launch an agricultural revolution across the country to create jobs and address the food crisis for the long term.
