Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has made it clear that he is not aspiring to be the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). This clarification comes in response to media reports suggesting that he had declared himself as the PDP chairman and announced the suspension of several party leaders.
Fayose took to his social media handle to distance himself from these reports, emphasizing that Ambassador Umar Damagum remains the legitimate Chairman of the PDP. He also highlighted the importance of accuracy in reporting, noting that there are multiple individuals with the surname Fayose in Nigeria.
In his statement, Fayose expressed his disinterest in taking over the leadership of the main opposition party or accepting any political appointment. He reiterated that he has no involvement in the party’s internal drama and has no aspirations to assume the role of PDP chairman. This clarification is significant as it puts to rest any speculation about Fayose’s political ambitions within the PDP and reaffirms his stance on the current leadership of the party.
