The Hornet’s Nest

Doug Emhoff is not as harmless and as innocent as he looks after all. He, just like maybe almost all of us has his own skeletons and he would rather, no one stirred the hornet’s nest. Until he met and married a public official, he could walk into a restaurant and not attract any attention. Anywhere in the world, when you make that decision to cross from private life to public life, your life becomes an open book, ripe for scrutiny.

The late Adedibu, the grandmaster of Ibadan politics once admonished those who desire to go into politics thus: “If you don’t want people to tell you the story of your mother’s first boyfriend, do not go into politics.” Nothing could be truer. Doug Emhoff is finding out the hard way. The Daily Mail of London just published an article revealing the fact that Doug had an affair with his daughter’s teacher which led to the breakup of his first marriage. CNN reached out to him for comment, and he provided a written statement to the effect that indeed it was true. The woman he was involved with refused to provide any details. Kamala Harris might become President. That is Doug’s crime.
