See table above. Interpretation: it’s down to the wire between the United States and China at 33 Gold each. Many opportunities are available over the next two days for both countries to add to their medal count.
By far, they are ahead of everyone else. When we take into consideration the population of a country like India at over 1.2 Billion, Nigeria at 220 million, France at 67 million, Australia at 26 million, or the United States at 334 million, we will see that it is not about size, but about effort and resources, and the discipline, and rigor infused into everything they choose to do. India for example has chosen to focus on High Tech and they are excelling.
What is Nigeria’s focus? As a people, we march forward individually. As a country, we do the backwards march.
Four years from now, we can change our story. We hope the President is watching the Olympics, but more importantly, we also hope he will ask questions when our delegation sneaks back to the country.
