Nigeria may get Second Female Chief Justice.

The National Judicial Council has recommended Justice Kudirat Motonmori Kekere-Ekun to the President for consideration to be the next Chief Justice of Nigeria. If President Tinubu accepts the recommendation, she will be the second female to occupy the office of Chief Justice.

The first woman Chief Justice was Justice Aloma Mariam Muktar who served from July 2012 to November, 2014. In Nigeria, Judges’ retirement age is 70. Justice Kekere-Ekun is 66 years old.

Chief Justice Olukayode Ariwoola is due to retire on August 22nd, 2024.
