Of Maslow and the Jagaban

Did the much anticipated speech by the president do anything to assure people that he could feel their pain? Did he communicate?
I’ve taken pains to read it over and over again. He over-communicated with high sounding words and statistics, thereby, losing the ordinary man in the street who was his primary audience.

Big problems require huge remedies. If he had done something to address one item on Maslow’s basic physiological needs, he would have become the hero of the poor yesterday. I will be placing this speech in the category of lost opportunities. This is sad. His speech writers did not do a good job for him. He probably would have been better off just speaking to us without a speech.
