Kwankwaso: “I Only Want to Rescue Nigeria” Ahead of 2027 Presidential Election

Former Kano State Governor and national leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has declared his intention to run for president in the upcoming 2027 elections, emphasising that his primary goal is to “rescue Nigeria” from its current economic challenges. Kwankwaso made this statement during a visit to the Osun State Party Secretariat, where he outlined his vision for revitalising the nation.

A Call for Change

Kwankwaso expressed deep concern over the prevailing economic hardships faced by Nigerians, stating that many citizens are being manipulated through poverty by political leaders. He criticised the current administration for failing to address critical issues affecting the populace and vowed to implement policies that would uplift the standard of living for all Nigerians.

“Nigerians have so far realised that various leaders we have been having are intentionally using poverty to improvise citizens to cajole them again in 2027 with crumbs. I will not deceive them but rescue the country from the present quagmire,” he asserted.

Strengthening Party Structure

During his visit, Kwankwaso emphasised the importance of strengthening state chapters of the NNPP to ensure effective governance and administration. He noted that the party is committed to mobilising support across the country and preparing for a successful campaign in 2027.

“Our party has good intentions for the masses. We have started mobilizing people all over. We are equipping our state secretariats and providing them with vehicles to ease their movement,” he added.

Political Landscape and Future Aspirations

Kwankwaso’s declaration comes at a time when Nigeria is facing significant political and economic challenges, including high inflation rates, unemployment, and insecurity. His leadership style has garnered him a loyal following in Kano and beyond, positioning him as a formidable contender in the upcoming elections.

The former governor previously ran for president in 2023 but was unsuccessful. However, he remains optimistic about his chances in 2027, confident that the NNPP is ready to take over not only the presidency but also several state governorships.

Rabiu Kwankwaso’s commitment to “rescue Nigeria” reflects a growing sentiment among opposition leaders who seek to address the pressing issues facing the nation. As he prepares for the 2027 presidential election, Kwankwaso’s focus on grassroots mobilisation and party strengthening could play a crucial role in shaping Nigeria’s political landscape. With a clear vision for economic recovery and social justice, Kwankwaso aims to resonate with voters seeking meaningful change in their lives. The coming months will be pivotal as he rallies support and outlines his plans for a better Nigeria.
