Of Busybody Online in-laws

A celebrated entertainment personality trended for almost 10 years on social media for outrageous narcissistic and toxic behaviour. Her beauty and talent ensured she kept everyone entertained during the period. Her large followers lapped up her posts at every turn. She garnered more fame for her vitriol than her professional inclinations.

At the time, there was so much acrimony, name calling and divisive antics. Different camps emerged to vilify the unfortunate spouse of this winsome damsel. There was nothing he was not accused of by his ex wife

Predictably, those folks versed and driven by half truths or ‘aproko’ in street lingo joined the fray. They rush to social media to hunt for cracks, tales, drama to sink their teeth into.

This particular lady gave them such salacious materials. Father’s Day was particularly hilarious as the lady dressed up in male armour to pen more derisive and condescending words about her ex-husband.
She usually addressed herself as King because of her dual role as both man and woman in her kingdom. However, she’s singing a different tune today.

Recently, the lady in question has experienced a spiritual awakening and has allegedly reconciled with her ex-husband. She has recanted all her comments about her former partner. She confirmed that they were borne out of bitterness and anger.
The same social media is now abuzz with cute pictures of the family dripping with civility and niceness.
The online in-laws are now left bewildered and forsaken in this new arrangement. There’s nothing to drag or nobody to take down in sarcasm and innuendos.
Actors, comedians and other public players have been dragged ceaselessly by insufferable people tagged online in-laws. They take sides in marital issues that they are not privy to salient issues.
There’s no marriage or relationships without underlying tensions that can’t be managed or steered to steady waters. But once the battles are shared online some data warriors exploit it for clicks and monetisation.
Some enjoy the controversy and never want it to end. Now that the lady has sheathed her sword and downed her poisoned pen the online in-laws are presently feasting on the breakdown of the marriage of another frontline actor.

It’s never a dull moment in the social media space. Will online in-laws stop meddling? Will people get tired of clicking? What’s your take on the online in-laws who position themselves as custodians of wisdom and purity in the private lives of entertainment personalities?
