How to smash your goals and achieve more success in 2025.

The year 2025 is here, and it’s time to bring on the ubiquitous New Year resolutions of draconian rules, and regulations which are usually jettisoned after a few weeks. As someone who has been around for a while, I want to advise that you pause the button on resolutions to breathe, and take things slowly this time around.

Do you want to know why you keep on missing out year in year out? Some people like to lump financial, social and health resolutions together without getting down to the nitty gritty of their behaviors. This is why you fail to smash your goals to live and thrive time, and time again.

So why don’t you remove the stress of New Year resolutions and flip things around for a change? Let’s just pretend you’re doing an appraisal report of certain aspects of your lives. You will be surprised at the pace of progress that will be accomplished nevertheless.

Why don’t we swing into action:

Be focused: Don’t cram too many projects into your actions basket. Don’t plan to lose weight, move house, change your job, and get married at the same time! You have set yourself up for massive failure. Choose the most important or the lowest hanging fruit, and go for it. One day at a time.

Reduce procrastination: Someone said that procrastination is a thief of time. Set aside time for important projects, and finish them with tech gadgets stashed away. Now, it’s time to reduce social media consumption to achieve stated objectives.

Collaborate: Just know that nobody can succeed without joining forces with others. Two or three heads are far better than one smart one. Be open to different perspectives on the same matter.

Reinvent yourself: Do you know that librarians and travel agents are largely out of jobs unless they pivot and upscale their skills? It’s the same thing with people who refuse to acquire digital skills in this day, and age. Join professional associations/institutes for upgrade.

Be open: New trends are emerging daily, so, it’s imperative to be on top of them. Retraining and embracing new methods are smart moves for forward thinking ladies. Scout for relevant courses and certifications.

Take time off: Schedule time for short breaks this year. Working nonstop without resting increases stress, cortisol, and certain lifestyle diseases like Diabetes and Hypertension. Step back to breathe, thrive and enjoy life with family.

Join a community: Remember when you were in high school and you couldn’t do without your BFFs? That’s exactly what this is about—fraternizing with ladies of a certain age, and interests. You can join or set up one in your neighborhood or on social media. This has been touted to reduce loneliness, anxiety and depression among ladies over 40, and beyond.
