Women are the natural go-to people for caregiving in the society. They are gifted to care for their partners, parents, children, siblings, and sometimes, religious leaders in their communities. They undertake these jobs while pursuing their career or business endeavors.
The tendency for women is that all too often they forget to care for themselves as well this leading to mental health overload for them.
It is estimated that 1 in 6 women have been reported to be prone to depression, stress, high blood pressure, dementia, brain fog, and other medical challenges.
This is as a result of multiplicity of roles, and functions in the society.
Technological advancement and 24/7 social media blitz has no doubt increased efficiency, but it has also added more layers of pressure.
That’s why Women’s Hub has gone to town to pick the brains of experts to provide credible tips on Mental Health Awareness for women.

- Exercise: Make that move on that body of yours by getting off the couch or your desk. Take brisk walks. Breathe in and out. Exercise is an antidepressant too.
- Parks: The outdoors pack in a lot of benefits for de-stressing. There, you are unknowingly leaving everything behind just to enjoy nature at its best.
- Markets: Nothing is as stimulating as visiting the local markets just to feast on the cornucopia of food stuffs in different dimensions. People interaction, and watching also take place.
- Community: People form and are asked to join school, college, neighborhood, professional associations for better interaction and growth.
- Music: Nothing can alleviate mental overload better than music. It is spiritual and medicine for the soul worn out with the cares and grind of life. Don’t stop the music.
- Travel: Short trips within your location can provide immediate benefits to your mental health. Change of environment has been known to be a mood booster.
- Gardening: Those with green fingers can attest to the allure of seeing things sprouting. It helps the mood and mind of the farmer too.
*Journaling: Writing down your thoughts on a daily basis in a notebook keeps the brain in tip top condition. Your experiences, expectations, and desires belong here.
- Affirmations: Overthinking and stress can sometimes lead to wrong confessions. Flipping your language deliberately to build yourself up is an art that must be cultivated.
- Hobbies: If is never too late to take up hobbies such as painting, crossword puzzles, baking, pattern drawing, and more.
